Online first person shooter for the serious gamer

Online first person shooter for the serious gamer

Operation 7 is an exclusively online multiplayer first person shooter (FPS). It requires a download, which will allow you to join game rooms and play a number of different team game modes and arenas.
Unlike recently released Quake Live, Operation 7 is not an upfront shooter with a fun emphasis, but rather a serious game with a focus on realism and and "one shot kills", which favour the pro-sniper style gamer. In this sense, it's a purification of a certain style of gameplay people either love or hate.
The one shot kill aspect might put some player off, but it makes Operation 7 a much more tactical game than many. It's necessary to try to coordinate gameplay - using your radar - with teammates to take out the opposing sides. New players, and especially rookie FPS players can expect a steep learning curve and lots or surprise deaths.
Graphically Operation 7 is acceptable, with some nice touches, but won't amaze. The sound is impressive, with effects like deafness after nearby explosions, as well as pleasingly noisy guns. The initial installation and registration process is fairly lengthy, and to use the homepage you'll need a Firefox plugin. Some of the voice-overs are a little too macho.
Ideal for skilled gamers, Operation 7 is an effective and realistic online experience.
